Glass has one of the highest levels of conduction of all building materials. R-values are expressions of the level of resistance of conductive heat to move through a material. Glass has an R-value of about R-1 and the air space between panes of glass adds about 1 more R-value. The insulation R-value can range between R-1 for one pane of glass up to R-8 depending on the number of glazings and inert gas between panes. The two greatest issues with glass are heat and cold. Glass does not stop the transfer of heat or cold!
